Well, scientists think that our solar system came from a different galaxy that has been "eaten" by the Milky Way, so we don't match its spin. What's bad about that is that we are approaching a period where we will reenter the galactic disk, where there is a ton of interstellar media that is probably expanding the sun's ability to donate energy to the earth because thicker plasma circuits are possible. This will peak and plateau in 2012, which is the exact year that the most astronomically advanced culture on the planet- the Mayans- predict an ending of life as we know it. Not comforting.
