Thought-terminating cliche

This is a pretty cool concept. Dawkins thinks that the creationism argument that the designer is there and must be taken on faith is a thought-terminating cliche, like most of Newspeak in 1984.

Here are some more from ol' Wikipedia:
Do as I say, not as I do.
Why? Because I said so.
That's a no-brainer.
When you get to my age… (as in “When you get to my age you'll find that's not true.”).
You don't always get what you want.
The best defense is a good offense.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
It works in theory, but not in practice.
There's no silver bullet.
Stupid is as stupid does.
Life is unfair.
Such is life.
If you are not with us, you are against us.
God has a plan and a purpose.
America: Love it or leave it!
God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!
Support our Troops

Basically these statements relieve cognitive dissonance by their ability to evade analysis. Note that God is often invoked because faith, as I've said, is the ultimate closed-category: it cannot be argued.

My favorite is simply "The world doesn't work that way."
