Bhagavad Gita 2.16 and 2.19

In the real there is no duration and in the unreal there is no cessation. This has been concluded by studying the nature of both.
-Lord Krisna
Here, Govinda is calming down Arjuna, telling him that grief makes one inelligible for liberation, because important things continue forever, only the unimportant is lost, and one should feel no grief for the unimportant.
He drives it home saying in verse 2.19 : "Neither he who thinks the living entity the slayer nor he who thinks it slain is in knowledge, for the self slays not nor is slain."
