Om Dum Durgayei namaha
I'm not sure how to spell the -yei feminine invoking suffix in sanskrit, but I'm fairly certain it's the ya sound with the ei small vowel on top.
The other day I was driving through the mission on my way to pick up a friend and I saw a shady character. His skin had that really dark pallor of being in the sun for a years, and his hair was similarly sun-blasted and wispy. He was standing with a shopping cart and talking animatedly with a few others like him. I thought to invoke Durga with the above mantra- but I felt bad being afraid of this man- the chances of him even wanting to attack me were slim and my chances of fending him off if so were excellent.
So I began to say the mantra for him, in defense of the harshities of the mission, not for myself in defense of him. After his face left my memory I began to pick out the most destitute creatures by the side of the road and mentally call to Durga for them. It all made me feel pretty good.
And Saraswati visited me for a split instant the other. I was walking around my house and thinking about seed sounds. I thought of Saraswati, but I couldn't remember her sound. I thought and thought but it wasn't coming. Then I realized that Saraswati is the principle of creativity, so I just mentally asked her what her seed sound is, and bam, EIM was in my head.
